Hi, I’m Kavita Bassi.
I was called to the Ontario Bar in 2025 after graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School.
I founded Simkoe Law because I believe everyone, regardless of income, immigration status, or background, deserves strong and thoughtful legal representation. I also understand that "wins" look different for everyone. My goal is to understand what matters most to you and advocate for exactly that.
I spent the first two years of my career at Legal Aid Ontario: first, articling with their Policy team, then working as Duty Counsel in criminal and family law, where I represented clients daily before the Ontario Court of Justice.
I’ve handled bail hearings, guilty pleas, pre-trials, urgent motions, and child protection proceedings, across both adult & youth criminal matters and family law matters involving domestic violence.
I take a trauma-informed approach to my practice. I am experienced in representing clients from underserved communities, including survivors of domestic violence in family law matters, where sensitivity and urgency often go hand in hand.
Outside of my legal practice, I serve as an ambassador for the BOLT Safety Society, a not-for-profit organization that endeavours to end violence, harassment, and abuse through a variety of community-focused programming.
